Atonement triumphs at Golden Globes

'Atonement', starring Keira Knightley and James McAvoy, won for Best Drama along and Best Original Score. However, Keira who played Cecilia Tallis in the World War II drama, which had led the way with seven nominations lost out on Best Performance By An Actress In A Drama to Julie Christie.
Christie, who portrays a woman succumbing to Alzheimer's in 'Away From Her', won the award ahead of fellow nominees Jodie Foster, Angelina Jolie and Cate Blanchett.
Christie said, "Thank you very much indeed for this award, which I will share with our wonderful director, who made it all possible, and the terrific cast and crew".
The winners were announced during a news conference broadcast on US channel NBC News. The prestigious event which is organized by the Hollywood Foreign Press was due to take place at California's Beverly Hilton Hotel, but was cancelled due to the Hollywood writers' strike. Add your comment: |
